He is an Olympic champion, won a gold medal in 2012. He is the first male athlete from the Caribbean, as well as the first African-American to win a gold medal in javelin in Olympic history. He is also a small record holder for North America, Central America and the Caribbean.
Walcott was the youngest Olympic gold medalist in the men's javelin throw and the first athlete in a sporting event to win world junior and Olympic titles in an individual event that year.
